DREAM! (hope*writers challenge day 4)

Do you remember your dreams?

This morning a friend posted on Facebook about a recurring dream/image she’d been seeing, and asked what the rest of us thought God might be telling her.  I’m curious and excited to hear what she finds out as time goes on.

But there are other kinds of dreams.

Do you remember your dreams from childhood — not just the REM-sleep* kind, but the visions of future possibilities? The anticipation of more exciting, fascinating, delightful times  than you could ever even imagine? (I used to imagine that someday I might be transported by magic to another place and time if I just closed my eyes and waited long enough on the swings during recess…)

Do you have dreams now?  One of our kids recently told me “I’m just trying to survive!”  And until very recently I felt that way myself, so I can imagine where that came from.  But God doesn’t just send us dreams in our sleep - He plants desires in our hearts, and He asks “What do you want me to do for you?”

Allow yourself to dream, to delight in Him, to celebrate and receive like a child!

(*Fun fact: REM sleep takes up a lot more time for babies than it does for us. So they probably dream a lot more too.)

Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart”- Psalm 37:4

Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” - Mark 10:15
